Welcome to Shing

Shing is a specialist food and restaurant PR agency shaping the narrative of South African dining.

What We Do

With four consecutive years leading communications for the Eat Out Awards, Shing operates at the heart of the country’s most influential culinary platform. Our work has positioned the Awards not simply as an event, but as a barometer of excellence, innovation and industry direction.

Beyond industry milestones, we have executed national PR campaigns for multiple high-profile Chefs, Eateries, South African cookbooks and more, securing widespread coverage across print, digital, radio and primetime broadcast platforms.

In 2026, our focus is singular: food.

We partner with ambitious chefs, restaurant groups, authors and hospitality brands to build authority, cultural relevance and long-term brand value. From award campaigns and book launches to restaurant openings and reputation strategy, we understand kitchens, media and the commercial realities that connect the two.

Shing does not simply generate coverage. We build the narratives that define South African food.

Our Work

Eat Out Woolworths Restaurant Awards

From 2022 to 2026, Shing was the proud PR partner of the prestigious Eat Out Woolworths Restaurant Awards. Each year, we delivered standout results — securing high-impact media coverage across Gauteng and Cape Town, and placing the story in top-tier outlets such as the Sunday Times, 947 with Anele Mdoda, Netwerk24, Kfm 94.5, e.tv, SABC3’s Expresso Show, Daily Maverick, and more.

Our work also extended across social media and influencer campaigns, amplifying reach and conversation in digital spaces. The result? Exceptional AVE returns, strong brand positioning, and a heightened national profile for the awards.

Kamini Pather – All Dahl’d Up

In 2025, Shing proudly led the national PR campaign for All Dahl’d Up, the debut cookbook by celebrated media personality Kamini Pather, published by Penguin Books.

We crafted and executed a high-energy press tour across Johannesburg and Cape Town, securing standout coverage with top platforms including Talk Radio 702, Power FM, Kfm 94.5, SABC3’s Expresso Show, News24, and more.

The campaign successfully positioned Kamini as a bold new voice in South African food writing, blending vibrant storytelling with powerful cultural resonance.

The team at Shing were a pleasure to work with and very effective. They serviced Kaya 959 with the station’s rebrand, the line-up changes, the radio awards, the appointment of the new Managing Director, and dozens of events and other press opportunities. They have their finger on the pulse of the media in Gauteng – I would recommend them in a heartbeat.
